There is a popular saying that ‘Patience is a Virtue’.
In fact, patience is one of the Seven Contrary Virtues, formulated by Pope Gregory (540 – 604 AD), who wanted a list of qualities which could overcome the 7 Deadly Sins. In this system, Patience is meant to overcome and transform Anger.
… Which is quite interesting for us, because one of the reasons why Anger arises when things around us aren’t going our way for some reason.
Now, for your average person, patience may indeed by a virtue… but it is the virtue which they tend to put last on their self-development list.
This is probably because, for our inner child, patience sounds a little bit ‘boring’. Patience means we have to wait for our desires, we have to delay our gratification, and there is always the fear that we may wait for an eternity and never receive what we want. Patience is what you ask small children to be when it’s November and they’re waiting for Christmas Day.
However, in the world of manifestation and the Law of Attraction, patience really is a virtue worth actively cultivating.
Let me explain why…
Think back to our example of the Quantum Waves, how they are all interacting across space and time, with waves from the Present interacting with waves from the Past and Future… all of the same frequency (because different frequencies don’t connect)… and where those Quantum waves interact, they collapse to create our reality.
And remember how we used this photo and the concept of Quantum Raindrops to describe how everything is connecting and interacting, via these Quantum Waves, across our vast and infinite universe.
Our physical presence here and now is only possible because of these many Quantum waves all flowing into our Present moment, forming and creating our reality.
So if we want to change our Present reality, we need to first modify the Quantum Waves creating our reality… we need to change or tune into a different frequency / vibration.
So it is basically about us learning to re-tune ourselves to a different frequency.
But to do so takes time… and it doesn’t happen magically over night.
Using this model, let’s say a Quantum Wave from the Present moment, with the vibration of Anger (because up to now we have been an Angry person), radiates out into the Past and Future, and to exist in the Present, and to maintain our Anger, we also need to connect with similar Quantum Waves of Anger coming from the Past and Future.
To be Angry now, we need to have been Angry for many of our yesterdays, and many more tomorrows.
And when that happens, all these Quantum Waves intersect in our Present moment, and collapse to form reality… or rather an Angry reality… one in which there is a lot of Anger… Anger towards us, Anger towards others.
So if we want to change our reality from Anger to one of Love, we need to start radiating out Love instead of Anger… so that the Quantum wave of Love is what we are sending out into the Past and Future from our Present moment.
Simple you might think… well, not quite.
To begin with, because we have been living a life of Anger… there is little or no Love in our Past to connect with… so there are few if any Quantum Waves radiating out from our Past to connect up with to create our Present.
Similarly, because we have been following a path of Anger for so long… we have been projecting Quantum Waves of Anger out into our Future, so we have been laying down a future track of Anger for ourselves. There is very little Love in our Future to connect up with… and so not possible to collapse / manifest a different kind of reality.
It seems that our Past is set in concrete, and our Future is pre-determined.
Yes… but no.
In this Universe of ours, nothing is 100% fixed or certain (with the possible exception of Death and Taxes)… we always have free-will… and as Victor Frankl rightly pointed out… we always have the inner choice of how we react to what experiences arise within and around us.
This may be why Jesus wanted his followers to respond with Forgiveness when faced with Anger or Hate… because true Forgiveness can shift someone on to a new vibrational trajectory… responding with Anger just keeps you stuck on the Anger train.
We always have control over our Present moment… and we can change our vibrationary trajectory due to this fact, but it will take a little time… and so requires this magic thing called… patience.
So in our example, let us suppose we do want to move from a life of Anger, to one of Love.
Day 1, we sit down, and allow ourselves to feel Love in the Present moment. That’s great… but it will have little impact on our vibrational trajectory, because there is little Love in our Past and Future for this new Quantum Wave generated from our Present moment to connect with (I mean. we’ve only been doing it for a day!)
But what happens if we repeat the same exercise the next day?
Well, then the situation starts to change and shift a little… because we do have 1 Day, yesterday, when we were radiating Love, and so there are a few Quantum waves of Love, originating from the Past for our Present to connect with.
But if we were to give up now, at this early stage, then admittedly, nothing would happen, our world of Anger would remain intact. Our exercise in manifestation would appear a failure.
But… and here’s the important thing… if each day going forwards we repeat our meditation, choosing to radiate and feel Love instead of Anger, then the number of Quantum Waves flowing from our Past into our Present moment will inevitably increase, and so also changing our Future… because we are now forming a pattern where everyday we are sitting down, repeating our Love vibration… and so the Future Quantum Waves of Love are also being created, and are flowing back from the new Future track to our Past.
Simple really… but the real magic is in the repeated doing.
But this is the big problem… it takes time for all this vibrational architecture to set-up, to create and amass all these Quantum Waves which will shift you into a new Present reality and vibrational trajectory.
And if you are impatient for an immediate result… then you can give up too soon… at which point, your vibration quickly returns to it’s normal setting (i.e. Anger), and you remain stuck on your normal vibrational trajectory. Nothing changes in your life, no shifts or unexpected results. You remain stuck… with the added belief that you tried to shift, and it didn’t work… and so not much point in trying again.
(OK, there are some other problems, places where the process can go wrong… but giving up too soon is probably the biggest.)
Remember what we said earlier… for your average person, patience may indeed by a virtue… but it is the virtue which they tend to put last on their self-development list… and this is probably because, for our inner child, patience sounds a little bit ‘boring’. Patience means we have to wait for our desires, we have to delay our gratification, and there is always the fear that we may wait for an eternity and never receive what we want. Patience is what you ask small children to be when it’s November and they’re waiting for Christmas Day.
But as you wait, November eventually changes in December, and the 25th eventually does arrive.
But if you just get Angry (the opposite of Patience), stamp your foot, and insist that everything manifests now… not only are you being a spoilt brat… but nothing can or will change… because you haven’t changed the one thing in this manifestation equation… i.e. you… you haven’t changed your vibration… and you haven’t continued to radiate that same, consistent vibration for long enough to allow the Universe around you to shift… you haven’t allowed the Quantum Waves to lock on to the new frequency / vibration you want to manifest in your life.
Understand how it works now?
So it is patience, a personality quality, which allows you to wait, keep putting in the vibrational effort, over time… which allows you to change your reality.
So, in this context, patience is indeed a virtue.
Note: Although whether Pope Gregory would agree with me is another matter entirely.
