A Weird Energy Meditation… That Really Works?

 

There is an ancient Tantric text called the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra, maybe 4,000 to 5,000 years old, from the region around the Himalayas… and it contains 112 different meditations…

… 112 different gateways into our inner consciousness.

… Now, I know what you are probably thinking… Tantrasex

But of the 112 meditation techniques in this ancient text, only about 3 focus on sex… the remaining 109 focus on and utilize different ways into deep meditation…

… And the meditation which I want to focus on in this post, uses our¬†2 eyes as its gateway into inner consciousness.

The meditation sutra states:

Touching eyeballs as light as a feather,

lightness between them opens into heart

and there permeates the cosmos.

Now, this is one of my favorite meditation techniques, and I used to practice it as described above… using the soft part of each hand, the meaty bit at the base of the thumb… placing them gently against the closed eyelids…

And this very gentle pressure on the eyelids (because it’s OK to have your eyes closed for this), causes the subtle energy which flows up from our heart, and then radiates out from our eyes (and 80% of our subtle energy is connected with the eyes) to stop and be reflected back again…

From the eyes, flowing back up to the Brow Chakra

… And from the Brow descending down to the Heart chakra… re-tracing the path our consciousness tracks at night, while we are asleep.

And this meditation does indeed work

… But using the hands, it’s such an awkward position to hold…

And I thought to myself… There most be an easier way of applying this meditation.

… And yes, there is.

You see, the gentle and subtle pressure which is applied to the eyes doesn’t need to come from the hands

First, I tried it, lying down, with very 2 small crystals placed on each of the closed eyelids…

And that worked…

Second, I tried it, lying down, with small cardboard squares, 1 cm by 1 cm, placed resting on the closed eyelids…

And that worked…

Third, I tried it, lying down, replacing the cardboard squares with ones (1 cm by 1 cm) made from simple paper squares… also¬†placed resting on the closed eyelids…

And that also worked.

I have found that the most important thing about this energy meditation is not what is applying the pressure… it’s that:

a) the eyelids are closed

b) there is something applying a gentle pressure on the two eyelids

But the great things about this particular energy meditation…

It’s so simple to do…

Once your own energy re-connects with your heart, it can re-charge and re-vitalize your whole being… as if you have been asleep, and come back refreshed…

And it can be used in many different and interesting ways… which we shall explore in coming posts.

So if you have any cardboard or paper squares lying around (1 cm x 1 cm)… or can cut some out (or tear them off a sheet)… then why not give this particular energy meditation a try…

I have taught this technique many times over the last 10 years… and people are amazed at how simple it is… and amazed at what it can do / create within.
